Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Its festive and delicious. I love going out to my farm and spending time with my family. We make the best Thanksgiving meal. We make a huge turkey, mashed potato's and gravy, biscuits, corn, and dressing. Then for dessert we will have five different types of pies! After we are done eating our fest, we go out for a long walk in our timber. Its really relaxing just to get some fresh air. Once we are finished with our walks, we will head back to the house and do the dishes. That is one part of Thanksgiving I could do without. When the dishes have be cleaned everyone tends to just take a really long nap. As for me though, I like to put on my hunting gear on and head back out to my timber to go hunting. Once it gets to dark, I climb down my stand and head back to the farm. Usually everyone is up by then watching TV. They tend to wait for me so we can start to have left overs. The left over turkey is always the best part. I think the reason I love Thanksgiving so much is for a couple of reason. One the food is incredible, two it is a great time to spend with your family, and three it is still a true holiday. It is not commercialized like Christmas or New Years. People can not wait till Thanksgiving is over so they can line up at the local Best Buy at 5am to get their hands on great deals for Black Friday. Christmas used to be a great holiday. People didn't care about the gifts as much as they do now. For our Christmas we don't exchange gifts. Instead we just have a great meal and enjoy the time off we have. In conclusion I hope I have a great holiday season and I hope everyone else has one to.

Disc Golf
After a long stressful day at school there only one thing I want to do after school. Disc golf. I love to go to disc golf. It calms my nerves after school. I love to get out and be in the fresh air and enjoy life. Although Ill be the first one to tell you I suck at disc golf. My friends always make fun of me when I play, but I really don't care. I just enjoy being outside and hanging out with my friends and just doing something fun after school. It doesn't really matter what the weather is like outside, we will still play no matter what. Even this winter we plan to play. I hope that its not 40 below 0. If it is then we might reconsider not to play.

I don't want wInter!!!!
My least favorite season is winter. I can not stand it. It always seems to me that spring, summer, and fall always just fly on by and before I know its winter. The only thing I do like about winter is the first snow fall. I think its a pretty nice and relaxing thing. But after the first two weeks, I want summer! Winter is awful, but its pretty fun when you are just a little kid. I did like winter when I was younger but now it just makes me grumpy. Last winter I hit some black ice while I was driving home from work. I heading west going home, and after I hit the black ice, I was in the ditch facing east. A week later I was going up to Ames with my older brother this time he was driving and we ended up going to the ditch. So that trip should have taken 45 min to get up there, ended up being three hours because we had to dig ourselves out. Of course last year was one the worst winters Iowa has ever been through. All I hope is this next winter won't be as bad as last year.

What I think college will be like
This is my final year at Van Meter High School. I plan to go to college next fall. I want to have a experience that I will never forget. I really don't have a clue what I want to major in yet. Lucky for me I still have time to think about that. After graduation will be moving out of my house and either get my own place or stay in a dorm. A lot of my close friends will be doing the same thing as well. It seems like most of my friends are going different places, and I wont be able to see them as much.
Hopefully I will be able to go visit as many friends as i can. The one thing I'm looking really forward to is living on my own! Although living on your own does make you have way more responsibilities. I can't wait to meet new people and find new friends. College will be a blast and it will be a huge pain at the same time. All I can do is make the best of it.
In conclusion I can not wait for my high school graduation to start and begin my college experience. I hope the next four years will be a amazing time.

What do you want to do in life?
The title of this blog is a question I've been getting asked a lot. I've been asked this by my parents, my brother, my friend, and my school. The truth is I have no clue what I want to do in life. And if you ask me I don't really think its a good question to ask a 17 year old. I know I want to have a family in the future, and a great career. But i really don't know if that will happen to me. There are so many things in life that you don't have control of.
There are things that can alter your life, and change your plans for the future. One thing is certain you will meet people in life that will have a positive impact and a negative impact on your life. I think the strange part of life is the unpredictability we all face. Life is so unpredictable we don't when its going to end.
In conclusion I believe its not a fair question to ask a 17 year old what he wants to do in life because, no one growing up really knows what they want to do in life. I remember last year I was really into political science. I thought that is what I was going to do in life, politics. But one year later i could care less about any of it. I'm not trying to put down anyone with this blog. If you believe that you will be a doctor or a cop or anything else, go for it. All I'm saying is that there so many obstacles in life that you'll need to overcome.

I'm Out of Ideas
I really have no clue what to talk about in this weeks blog. Its kinda of sad that I cant come up with one topic to blog about. So I'm blogging about not knowing what to blog about. Truth be told I really could care less about blogging.I just don't really see the point in it. I understand there are some nice things with blogging but for the most part I think the world wouldn't miss blogs.
I believe if you have to say your point of view on things, why don't you just say it to the person sitting right next to you in class. Twitter is also something i do not understand. its pretty much the same concept as blogger. Facebook on the other hand can useful. You can stay in touch with people you haven't seen in a while, such as family and friends.
In conclusion I don't get why our school thinks that this stuff is important. I truly believe that we could just decuss things in class instead of just posting things online. If you don't agree with what I have to say then thats fine but the only reason I posted this was because my College Prep class starts in two hours, I really needed to talk about something that I wouldn't get in trouble. Bye.

Homecoming
There are two things I look forward to when I come back to school. One is seeing all my friends again, and two homecoming. I love homecoming, i like to see what everyone is going to wear and all the games we get to do the day of the game. I remember when i was little going school, and looking at all the tp. Its that short of stuff that gets me excited for homecoming.
This year will be very different for me this homecoming because it will be my last. I want this homecoming to be the best one I've ever had. So far my senior has been a blast and next week should be week to remember. Next week will be the last time we get to dress up funny at school.
So in conclusion I can not wait for next week. Its going to be really fun, and I'm looking forward to it. And I'm also a little down about the fact that this will be my last homecoming. But that won't stop me from having a great time.

My senior year.
Senior year is supposed to be the most relaxed year in our high school career. Senior year is the last year we get to hang out with our friends. My senior year is going to be a blast. I want to have as much fun as I can. This year i would like try new things, and get to know more of my classmates.
I'm looking forward to homecoming week, and seeing my older brother up in Ames. I'm also looking forward to graduation. Of course everyone is looking forward to that. But after i leave Van Meter to go to college there will be few things that I will miss. Like hanging out with my friends, a few teacher's, and going to watch the high school football games.
This upcoming year is going to be very different for me because I'm going to move out of my house and start college and then when summer hits next year ill be going to Europe with my friends. My older brother is going to move out of state to start grad school. He plans on going to Wisconsin for his grad school. After he moves away i plan on visiting every month. So this year should be fun and also very interesting. I cant wait to see what lies ahead in the next year.
